Synthetic Electronics

Synthetic Electronics: Designing and fabricating semiconductor hybrid/heterostructures at the nanometer and atomic scales, exploring the miniaturization limits of electronic devices, and realizing next-generation low-dimensional electronics through chemical and materials engineering approaches. Recent research interests include:

  1. Design of low-dimensional materials for advanced manufacturing and electronic device construction;
  2. Chemical synthesis and device design of moiré superlattice materials.

“以化成器” (achieving devices through chemistry) is inspired by the I Ching (Book of Changes): “Observe human culture, and transform it to enlighten the world.” Synthetic Electronics (SynE) aims to design and synthesize hybrid and heterostructures of semiconductors at the nanometer and quantum scales, exploring the size limits of transistors and providing a possible chemical approach to building micro/nano devices for the post-Moore era. This embodies the concept of systems materials science and pursues the goal of material-to-device integration.
